HOWDY!

August 8, 2009

I will not be updating this site for the foreseeable future. For current updates, please go to www.bossythecow.com/hdwt

February 1, 2009

Hey everyone!

It's been a strange and busy year, and I expect 2009 to be even stranger and busier. As a result, you probably won't be seeing many updates here on Bossy the Cow. My advice is to keep an eye on my livejournal, which I will update on a more regular basis. If you haven't seen them already, I suggest that you read the posts I made on January 29th and February 1st. I'm going to be spending much of 2009 traveling around the world, and if you've ever had a desire to play Eberron with one of its creators, this is your chance. I'll be plotting my travels over the course of February, so if you'd like to nominate your town and sofa as a possible stop, drop me a line!

June 5th, 2008

It's been a long week. I'm back from
MisCon, and I had a great time there - I'll write up a longer report when I (ha!) have a moment. I think that's the last convention I'll be at until Gen Con Indy. Beyond that, I've had a whole mess'o'deadlines hit at once. I've been busy working on the 4E Eberron Campaign Guide, articles for DDI, my next novel, and more. It's been a little overwhelming, but it's finally starting to slow down.

If you're in the Boulder/Denver area, I'll be spending D&D Game Day at Stonebridge Games in Longmont. I'm going to be running two 4E Eberron games - word is that they'll be filled on a first-come, first serve basis. I'm hoping to have a little time away from the table to talk to anyone who's curious about 4E and the future of Eberron. Beyond that, once the books are OFFICIALLY released, I'll be dealing with Eberron-related issues on my livejournal - so keep an eye on that!

May 3, 2008

Hey everyone! As you can see, I haven't had much time to update the website, and honestly I don't expect that to change in the next few months. However, I have been posting in my livejournal and I suggest that you go there for the latest information or Eberron discussions. Beyond that, I've just returned from Penguicon and am gearing up to go to MisCon in a month - and between then, I've got a lot of work to do!

February 18, 2008

Hey everyone!

My resolution to update the website more in 2008 has born little fruit. My resume's years out of date, Dragons of Eberron is still listed as "Coming Soon", and we haven't even mentioned City of Stormreach... the last Eberron sourcebook before the transition to Fourth Edition, due to be released this week! However, Ellen and I have many excellent reasons for being so lame, between her job and my freelance work. While they are all hidden away under NDA, I'm working on a few interesting projects at the moment, and I look forward to being able to talk about them in greater detail.

However, for the immediate future the best source of information is going to be my livejournal. Here's links to the most recent entries:

February 17th - Travel Plans
February 12th - A Gloom-y bibliography

More to come soon, including a comparison of the City of Stormreach sourcebook and Stormreach in D&D Online. Until then, enjoy the leap year!

January 7, 2008

Hey everyone! Welcome to 2008.

As always, it's been too long since I've posted anything especially interesting. I have a new "Ask the Dreaming Dark" subject I want to get to, and I'd like to post a general overview of 2007 at the Bakery, but it's going to be a few more days before I can get to either of these things - I'm wrapping up a project that got delayed by holidays, and it needs to get finished ASAP.

In the shameless plug department, I have a short (3-page) article about running hardboiled and noir adventures in Kobold Quarterly #3, which was just released. It's not specifically tied to Eberron, but it's certainly applicable... while I didn't mention any Eberron locations, I had the mean streets of Sharn in mind. If you're interested, you can find Kobold Quarterly at http://koboldquarterly.com/ . It's now available in both print and PDF format, and has articles by nobodies like me, Ed Greenwood, Wolfgang Baur, Ari Marmell, and others.

Anyhow, more to come soon, and I hope everyone is having a great 2008!

August 31st, 2007

It looks like I'll be updating my livejournal page more often than the website, so if you haven't had a chance to check that out, well, what are you waiting for? Beyond that, there's a few bits of news. The echoes of Gen Con are still coming back - I just received the following picture from Eberron player Dom, and given that I'm all for being worshipped and adored, I felt that I should post it; I want it to be a giant statue outside the First Church of Eberron (sadly, we don't actually know if the god of the First Church of Eberron is real, or if the clerics are just drawing power from the Ring of Siberys...):

~Left to Right top to bottom, Lex, Kyle, Keith, Adrian, David, Dom.

On the home front, I'm pushing ahead on my new Eberron novel; the first draft should be done within two weeks. Woo hoo! And with that in mind, it occurred to me that it's high time for another installment of The Eberron Casting Call. We're almost done with the Dreaming Dark trilogy, but with The Gates of Night, we have a new character to consider: Xu'sasar of the Qaltiar. To quote the book:

She was unquestionably elven, with fine features, large almond-shaped eyes, and long, pointed ears. Like most of the other elves Daine had encountered, she was short and slender… athletic, but built for speed instead of strength. Where most elves had light complexions, this woman's skin was pitch black, a shade far darker than he'd ever seen on another human. This darkness was broken up by a web of pale white tattoos, abstract but almost hypnotic in their complexity. Her long hair was the color of moonlight, silvery-white and shimmering in the reflected flame. This cloak of hair covered more than her actual clothing. Vambraces made from some sort of opalescent shell covered her forearms, and she wore shin-guards made from the same material. Aside from this armor, she wore a short, dark loincloth and a few bands of leather wrapped across her torso.

Xu'sasar is swift and deadly, and operates under different concepts of morality and theology that Daine and Lei. She has grown up in a savage world, where survival comes before everything else. Who would you cast in the role of the drow huntress? Answer here!

August 22, 2007: Back from Gen Con!

Hey everyone! Ellen and I have returned from Gen Con, and we had a great time. I'd like to thank everyone who attended my seminars, especially the Saturday evening get-together, and I'd also like to thank C.A. Suleiman for running a game for me (unfortunately, it was Saturday night and I could barely keep my eyes open!). By now I'm sure that people have heard about the onset of D&D Fourth Edition, and you may be wondering what this means for Eberron and what I think about it. Because I'm too lazy to figure out how to edit this page myself, I've started using www.livejournal.com, and I suggest you check out my journal.

There were lots of things about Gen Con worth mentioning, but I need to get back to work on my novel, so I'll leave you with this terrifying scene of Bossy being attacked by a beholder.  It looks grim, but all I'll say is that the beholder should have known better than to swallow the Hellcow.
