11/13/04:
The Thoughtsinger
Psionics has been a part of D&D since first edition, but it has rarely
been incorporated into the world. I've always been intrigued by the idea
of how a fantasy civilization might evolve around psionics as opposed to
magic (I admit it, I'm a fan of Julian May's Pliocene Exile books). This
is an early step in that direction: a variation on the bard that relies
on telepathic projection instead of music and who possesses psionic
powers instead of arcane spells. As it stands, it's extremely light on
fluff; fundamentally it's a bard, and only the mechanics have changed.
When I have more time, I will revisit it and add more flavor.
